Pull the red chain near coach doors to halt the train in a genuine emergency. Misuse carries a fine of ₹1,000 under Railways Act Section 141.

Railway Safety Guidelines

  • Wait for passengers to deboard before boarding — do not rush
  • Never board or deboard a moving train — even at slow speed
  • Stand behind the yellow line until the train comes to a complete stop
  • Use the handles when boarding — platforms have a 1.5m gap at some stations
  • At Dadar and Kurla, crowds surge — keep your bag in front and grip the handle
